Have you ever experienced things in your life that you never thought would happen? I have. I am a social worker and counselor. I spend many hours every week helping families deal with a variety of issues including divorce. I never thought I would be involved in divorce proceedings, but my husband decided that he no longer wanted to be married. This was a huge adjustment for our children; however my husband and I tried to assure them that we loved them and they had no responsibility in the ending of the relationship. I was glad that we were able to deal with each other maturely and to move on with our lives. Once we were divorced I realized that my husband was right, we were not really happy together we were both simply making do with a mediocre relationship.

Saturday, October 13th, 2007Acid Reflux: Complications
Monday, October 8th, 2007A person suffering from chronic Acid Reflux disease, must be very alert about the possibility of it degenerating into something, that is life threatening.
A lifetime of acidic fluid swishing up into the Esophagus, scarring and burning the walls; more and more food going down this path, tangling with the ulcerated surface, the subsequent laxness in the movement of the Esophageal contractions as it moves the food downward towards the stomach – all these factors contribute to some serious afflictions.

Understanding Identity Theft
Monday, October 8th, 2007Most people have heard of identify theft but what exactly is it? Identity theft is also known as identity fraud and is when a victim’s identity is used to get credit cards, apply for credit at banks and other establishments, open accounts at financial institutions, take money from existing accounts, get a job, or file bankruptcy. Your identity can also be used by another person when committing crimes ranging from misdemeanors to felonies. The thief does all this without the victim’s knowledge and depending on how long it goes undetected for weeks, months, or even years.
Thieves can steal your identity in a number of ways. Thieves can get your information from many sources like online, from your mailbox, your trash, spoof emails and telemarketing scams. Personal information can be obtained if you loose your wallet and a criminal steals personal information from it. But sometimes you don’t have to do anything in order to become a victim, thieves can get enough information about you to commit identity theft from doctors and other health care professionals offices, your insurance company, healthcare company etc..
All criminals need to commit identity theft is your social security number, birth date, credit card numbers, or any other personal information. Once they get your information they can use it to make a fake drivers license with their picture on it and commit crimes under your name. Or they can use your financial information to steal money in your accounts, open new credit card accounts and charge purchases to old ones. They can apply for loans or lines of credits all under your name and to the detriment of your god credit name.
If you do become a victim of identity theft you must take action immediately. As soon as you are aware that there is a problem with one of your accounts or your name being used by another person, you must contact your bank, credit card companies, all three credit reporting agencies, and the police. Quick action is essential in clearing up problems caused by identity theft as well as close monitoring of your accounts to ensure all suspicious activity has stopped.

Jobs for Teens
Thursday, October 4th, 2007Though some parents are against it, it is often a great idea for teenagers to earn and handle their own money. There are plenty of jobs for teens out there, but not all teenagers are fit for all jobs. There are many things parents should consider when their child asks if they could get a job. Children who are legal to work and want to do so can learn a lot about the world and who they are through the right job, and it does them well to learn about money management as young as possible. Some can learn that through allowance, but jobs are often the best way.

Cleaning Vinyl Records
Thursday, October 4th, 2007Some things come and go, but some of those things that were supposed to go never really leave. There are things that once were popular, but have since been replaced by better technology, but that does not mean they can be replaced in the hearts of some people. Vinyl records are one such thing that some have refused to let go of, and still have in their homes. They may prefer them for memory sake, or they may prefer the unique sound they have. Whatever the case, they do need to know how to go about safely cleaning vinyl records if they want to keep them in good shape.

Skate Shoes
Monday, October 1st, 2007One of the newer things I have seen that drives me crazy are the new skate shoes. I can’t remember what they are called, but I can’t help but think they are very dangerous. They look like fun, but I don’t think I would allow my daughter to walk out of the house with them on her feet, even when she gets older. I can see why they would be fun, but I think perhaps some caution should be taken when children are using or wearing them. I don’t want to spoil the fun by any means, but I’ve seen a few kids take spills with them, and they got pretty banged up.

Make Your Own Invitation
Monday, October 1st, 2007In this day and age of automation, everything we do seems controlled. A simple birthday party may be fraught with protocol and politically correct rules. So how can you plan a party that’s different, yet original?
One way to set your party apart from the rest is to make your own party invitations. We’ve all received the run of the mill invitation, with a sweet or humorous sentiment. One way to set your party above and beyond the regular grind is to make your own party invitations. Besides saving the expense of the pat phrases and sentiments expressed in the “canned” versions, your customized, make your own party invitations express a personalized, hip and up to the moment invitation which appeals to your group of friends.

Address change
Monday, October 1st, 2007While moving your residence has a million things to tend to, notifying others about your address change should be high on your priority list. In fact, notifying some places before your physical move isn’t a bad idea. The government, of course, requires that you do an address change almost immediately. You may have to get a new driver’s license or registration forms. Finding out all that you need to do in order to put an address change into effect is not very difficult. Stop by a local post office and ask for some information. Post offices should have a packet of information that they can distribute with an address change form for the mail system and postcards already printed that you can simply fill out and mail to places that also need to know.
