This is pretty straight-forward and easy to do. Eating less fried foods and fast foods are usually a good start to lowering the amount of fat that your body takes in. Also be careful with red meat, such as hamburgers or steaks, as well as many dairy products, such as ice cream, whole milk and, especially, butter. These things need to be limited in any diet for lowering cholesterol.

Strangely, not all cholesterol is bad cholesterol. There are actually some types of cholesterols that you can eat that will help remove the cholesterol that is in your blood stream and help you lead a healthier life. This good cholesterol should be added to any diet for lowering cholesterol - even if it means increasing this good cholesterol in your diet. This kind of cholesterol can be found in nuts and legumes. Legumes are things such as all sorts of beans, green peas, and peanuts. These things can actually improve your health by eating - in moderation of course.

Of course, your diet for lowering cholesterol should of course consist mainly of foods without cholesterol in them. A diet rich in fruits and vegetables are a good choice no matter who you are, but especially if you want to lower your cholesterol. And of course, your new diet should be accompanied by an increase in the amount you exercise to truly lower your cholesterol.

A diet for lowering cholesterol is one of the most important decisions and life style changes that you can make, regardless of your health or age. High cholesterol is not something you have to live with and is completely preventable. High cholesterol can lead to some awful diseases such as strokes and heart attacks, and very often to death. Finding a good diet for lowering cholesterol can help you have a longer, healthier and happier life.

Breast Cancer Survivor Gifts

Tuesday, February 19th, 2008

Perhaps one of the most well-known breast cancer survivor gifts is that of the pink ribbon. Originally intended as a symbol of breast cancer awareness, the pink ribbon can now be found on a vast array of gifts for breast cancer survivors.

One of the best breast cancer survivor gifts you can purchase is a canvas tote with a pink ribbon imprinted on it. When cancer patients are undergoing treatment, they sometimes are connected to a machine that pumps chemotherapy drugs into their body via an intravenous tube. A tote bag can be used to transport the pump and provides the patient with a little discretion when they are out in public.

Additionally, a tote bag can be used to carry magazines, books, binders, or craft projects. When patients obtain treatment in a facility, they are required to sit in a chair for 2 to 4 hours. A tote bag lets them take items along to help keep their mind occupied during the treatment session.

Pink ribbon travel mugs are a good gift option for breast cancer survivors. Patients can fill the mug with filtered water, smoothies, or other nutritional beverages. When their cancer treatment is completed, they can use the travel mug when they participate in a breast cancer survivor walk-a-thon!

Notepads, pens and pencils emblazoned with the pink ribbon symbol are practical gift choices. Many cancer patients are affected with short-term memory loss due to the cancer-fighting drugs. Having a supply of notepads, pens and pencils nearby can help them stay organized and keep track of important dates and times.

Pink ribbon note cards are a gift that every cancer survivor appreciates. Most cancer patients receive many good wishes and gifts during their recovery. Providing note cards as a gift makes it easy for breast cancer survivors to acknowledge these gifts when they are feeling better.

Pink ribbon breast cancer survivor gifts are available in just about anything you could possibly conceive. You can find pink ribbon apparel, jewelry, hats, scarves, socks, cups, glasses, pitchers, coolers, ornaments, magnets, key chains, stationary, soaps, suncatchers, and umbrellas.

When choosing a gift for a breast cancer survivor, keep one very important thing in mind… If the patient is undergoing chemotherapy treatments, do not give them gifts that include scented products. Scented items oftentimes make cancer patients queasy and nauseous, so only give unscented bath and body items, or candles.
